Signing up as a Care Provider on Supportal

May 11, 2020

Signing up as a care provider on Supportal is FREE and takes a couple of minutes (literally). We have so many families looking for help, and we really do need ALL kinds of therapist and care provider to sign up.

If you’re a therapist of any kind - including PT, OT, SLP, or Behaviorist- we need you. We also need Direct Support Workers.

Do I have to be qualified/certified/licensed?

Individual families decide if they want/need someone with particular qualifications; people are looking for everyone from licensed therapists, providers with certifications, grad school students through to someone to just sit with their child for a few hours. Often families need help with activities of daily living and just extra support. You don’t always have to be formally qualified for those positions.

The most important things are that you’re comfortable working with the special needs community and are a caring person.

What if I only want to work certain hours?

Some families need as few as three hours help a week, others are looking for a full-time live-in care provider. You choose how much you want to work. You’re in control. When you sign up, you decide how far you’re prepared to travel. When a family reaches out, you discuss the hours you work. It’s up to you and them to agree on a schedule.

How do I sign up?

Click ‘Sign Up’ at the top of the page. First you have to put in your email address and zip code and how far from home you’re happy to work. Once you confirm your email, you can fill out your profile. You just click the buttons to share important things about yourself; for example: ages you’re happy working with, your experience, and education. You don’t have to write anything, just click the buttons to select your answers. The entire process will take under five minutes.

In our next blog, we’ll talk more about filling out your profile and how creating a great profile attracts more families.
